Which Solaredge optimizer should I use with the Seraphim 375W module?

Dean Armintrout 4/24/2019

Given the power ratings of each component, 375W maximum STC power for the Seraphim 375W module, and 400W rated DC input power for the Solaredge P400 optimizer, it would seem these two are a perfect match.

Seraphim 375

Voc = 48.0V

Isc = 9.96A

TcVoc = -0.28%/C

TcIsc = 0.05%/C

P400

Max input voltage = 80V  (Voc @ low temp)

Max input current = 10.1A  (ISC @ high temp)

However, the input specifications for the P400 also include the Voc and Isc maximums of 80V and 10.1A (STC).  Under extreme hot temperature conditions, the Isc of the Seraphim 375W module can exceed the maximum input current rating of 10.1A.

Therefore, the Solaredge P400 optimizer should NOT be paired with the Seraphim 375W module.

Instead, the online Solaredge Designer specifies the P505 optimizer for this Seraphim module.
