Enphase Micro Inverter History
The M175 was the first micro inverter released by Enphase. It was the first commercially viable micro-inverter available to the general public for residential and commercial solar PV applications. The recommended input power was 185W, the peak power tracking voltage 25V - 40V and the maximum output power was 175W. Enphase micro inverters have come a long way since then!
See the M175 Datasheet and the M175 Installation and Operation Manual.
M190 and M210
The M190 and M210 were the 2nd generation of micro inverters by Enphase. The Enphase M190 micro inverters are electrically compatible with most 60 and 72
cell PV modules while the M210 micro inverters are electrically compatible with most 72
and 84 cell PV modules.
See the M190 Datasheet, M210 Datasheet, and the Installation and Operation Manual for the M190 and M210.
The M215 was Enphase's 3rd generation of micro inverters, with recommended input power ranging 190 - 270W. The newer M215 came with Integrated Grounding as well. With the advanced M215 IG, the DC circuit is isolated and insulated from ground, so no Ground Electrode Conductor (GEC) is required for this micro inverter. This further simplifies installation, enhances safety, and saves on labor and materials costs.
See the Original M215 NON-IG Datasheet, Enphase M215 NON-IG Safety and Quick Install Guide, M215 IG Datasheet, and Enphase M215 IG Installation Manual.
Enphase's 4th generation M250 allowed for combination with higher wattage panels, upwards of 300W. Previous models were named after the max power rating, while the M250 refers to its peak power. It is a product that to this day is requested despite no longer being manufactured. With the M250, the DC circuit is isolated and insulated from ground, so no Ground Electrode Conductor (GEC) is required for the micro inverter. This
further simplified installation, enhanced safety, and saved on labor and materials costs.

S230 and S280
Enphase's 5th generation included the S230 that paired with 195W - 285W solar panels, and the S280 that paired with 235W - 365W solar panels. With its all-AC
approach, the S line from Enphase simplified design and installation
for 280 VA installations, and delivers optimal energy
harvest. This generation complies with the regulatory requirement Electric Rule 21 in California that passed in 2017.
See the S230 Datasheet, S280 Datasheet, and Enphase S-Series Installation and Operation Manual.
Enphase's 6th generation of the IQ6 and IQ6+ achieved achieves the highest efficiency for module-level power electronics and a reduced cost per watt. The IQ6 pairs with 60 cell PV modules 195W - 330W+ and the IQ6+ pairs with 60 and 72 cell PV modules ranging 235W - 400W+. They are also lighter than the S280, weighing at 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs). See the full comparison of the IQ6+ versus the S280. The IQ6 and IQ6+ are compatible with the new IQ series line, and are not compatible with older cables, envoys and other non-IQ components.
Find the datasheets and installation manuals on the IQ6 and IQ6+ product pages.
