Encharge is Enphase’s new brand of AC-coupled battery systems. The initial roll-out model is the Encharge 3, an LFP battery with no moving parts.

Each Encharge 3 has (4) Enphase IQ8 microinverters built-in, representing 1.28kW nominal power available (surge functionality allows for slightly more)
DC energy in this battery + grid-forming IQ8 microinverters = this battery forms a utility signal!
Moreover, if the battery is connected with the home, the IQ8 micros can tell the IQ6/7 on the roof to turn on
In other words, you can use this battery in replacement of the entire grid specifically for IQ systems
Shared bus architecture = no single point of failure. If a microinverter goes down, you lose some “horsepower” but you still have access to the full “tank” of battery storage.
In the future, Enphase will release the Encharge 10 which is comprised of (3) Encharge 3 batteries held within a single structural unit. Each Encharge 10 has (12) IQ8 microinverters which create nominal power of 3.84kW.
