How much energy will my heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system use?
It is very hard to tell. HVAC load is complex and difficult to gauge without lots of data. We can start at the nameplate power rating, but this would only give the maximum power the unit would use. It would be better to know a full year of energy use after the fact. It may be better to contact an HVAC expert if you need to predict how much energy an HVAC system will use for your application.
The reason why this is difficult to determine is that HVAC experts typically will need to know the R-values of your home, the local climate conditions from ASHRAE, what temperature you intend to keep your home on an average basis, and other details about your overall home/system. As such, this is not something that we can offer an accurate calculation on in a timely manner. One might have some luck with a few basic online calculator tools, but these will only give a small idea of what one can expect from their system.
