The APsmart DC module-level electronics introduces a rapid shutdown device for string inverter systems. This device connects directly to each module using MC4 connectors. The Rapid shutdown device is compliant with NEC 2017 and NEC 2020. Since most string inverter systems tend to require RSD, installers tend to use optimizers to help with shading as well. In the event of a single array with no shading, the APsmart RSD is a perfect device that will keep your system compliant without breaking the bank.
This new RSD requires a separate component, the Transmitter, which can communicate with the module side devices and ensure the array will be de-energized within 30 seconds of a rapid shutdown event.
